Two Things I Wish I Knew Before Creating an Instagramable Picture

I believe that many girls out there wanna have perfect instragam-able photo like a model has. So that’s what I and my friend are doing, exploring things that we never did before. Yap! Photo hunting! We have a friend called Bang Inro (you can stalk his Instagram account @inro_jd) who has an interest in photography and we have so many beautiful places in Bali. So, we have enough, a photographer and spots.

When I told this to my other friend who has an interest in photography too, he said that the key of a good portrait photograph is expression. I could say that was the hardest part when we taking photo. We went to do the photoshoot twice, just for fun. First with my friend called Vivi Purba and second with my friend called Alvionita.

In my first experience, the photographer asked me to pose with no smile or happy expression. The reason was there were so many photos that I have with smile, so I had to give the other natural human emotions like happiness of eyes, genuine mood or natural expression. Guess what the result? It was terrible! Not to mention I was insecure with myself. It was weird when he took my face from the right side (I prefer the left). I was not comfortable with my chubby cheek, thigh, belly, arm, and this feeling didn’t help my expression at all. Thank God that Bang Inro was sooo calm in responding all of our complains of our own body, hahaha. At that time, we did photoshoot at Mangrove Forest and Dreamland Beach. You can see the photos from my first experience of being a model below.

Another chance, we did the photoshoot again in Serangan Beach. The photographer still forbade me to smile, but I don’t know why, this time I felt better. I tried not to complain too much and trusted it to the photographer. What I had to do was posed and gave the natural expression. And the result is…. Tadaaa… I think it’s better than the first. Right pose able to highlight the features and hide even the most obvious imperfections.

Don’t ever be afraid of exploring new things because they will always give you something to reflect. We do this just for fun. I am not a model and now I realize that being a model is not easy at all. One thing important that I learn from this-for-fun-photoshoot is just be CONFIDENT with yourself. EVERY PART OF YOUR BODY IS BEAUTIFUL WHEN YOU TREAT IT RIGHT. Being confident prove that you appreciate your body, YOUR LIFE. Every girl is beautiful on her own way and being the way that you are is enough.

Another important thing I get is don’t ever dare to order and complain too much to the photographer or he will order you back to go home :p

August-Writing: Kenapa Saya Ingin Magang di IAAW?

Based on one of my new year resolutions that is I have to write something and post it to this blog minimum once a month, I wanna share about my self-defense August-writing, because it seems like I didn’t write anything in August, but I did.

You know, last August was a busy month for me because there were many things that had to prepare and many special moments happened. In August, I officially graduated from Udayana University after being an architecture student for 3 years 8 month, passing a final exam in April, doing some revision and applying for graduation. Not only that, I involved in designing Masterplan of Udayana University since June and last August was the deadline-time. A week before graduation, I had to go to Malang for attending National Student Camp by Perkantas and after that I had to handle my parents and my family’s arrival for the graduation. See? How busy! I think I can’t make even one writing, but apparently I have to.

I was contracted by Udayana University for 3 months, so I had a target to apply for a job in August. While searching for vacancy, I found that Imelda Akmal Architectural Writing (IAAW) opened the internship program for fresh graduate. FYI, IAAW is a studio that focus on architecture publication. In this internship program, I would learn about writing, book production, reviewing, styling and many more.

I love architecture and I love writing, so I decided to apply. One of the requirements to apply was I had to create a writing about ‘Kenapa saya ingin magang di IAAW?’ A simple question, but I need at least 3 weeks to finish this. So, here my little thought about IAAW is, let’s check my-August-writing out!
